Alexander was 36 years of age, at marriage. He died at his daughter, Mrs F Sarr's home, and was a "relict of St Peters, aged 84 years". (Mrs Sarr perhaps should read Mrs Farr).

Alexander married Ellen "Nell" Whitford, daughter of John Henry Whitford and Ann Matthews, on 5 Dec 1885 in Bride's Home. (Ellen "Nell" Whitford was born on 18 Apr 1864 in Gawler Plains, South Australia and died on 16 Apr 1916.)
